Paul Slane believes Brendan Rodgers' doubling down on comments made last weekend have made things worse for Greg Taylor.
During his post-match press conference following Celtic's 3-0 win over St Mirren at Celtic Park on Sunday, the Irishman expressed his dismay with sections of the home crowd singing songs about Kieran Tierney.
Despite being publicly linked with the former left-back and one-time fan favourite, Rodgers believed doing so was disrespectful to current left-back Taylor.
When asked about the comments ahead of tonight's (Wednesday) Scottish Premiership encounter with Dundee United at Parkhead, the Celtic manager said he had no regrets regarding his comments.
Speaking on Open Goal, former Celtic player Slane said: "I can't believe what Rodgers has said about it, to be honest. I can't.
"I actually think he's made it worse for Greg Taylor."

Another former Celt, Tony Watt, was on the show who in turn offered an explanation for the Celtic manager's behaviour.
He said: "That's because they got [beaten] and he's obviously read everything and he's just a bit angry.
"A hundred per-cent. That's deep rooted. If Celtic win that Old Firm, he doesn't' mention it because he was on fire before the Old Firm with his comments. He was coming for people."
Andy Halliday, also on the show, suggested he didn't believe fans singing about Tierney was disrespectful to Taylor, to which Slane agreed.
Slane added: "This has nothing to do with Greg Taylor. See if Celtic were signing another left back, they wouldn't be signing, they're singing because they love Tierney."
