Former Castle Douglas High School pupils on trip of a lifetime in Africa

Two former Castle Douglas High School pupils are on the trip of a lifetime in Africa.

Sam Hodson and Callum Wrathall are driving a 1958 Land Rover overland from Kenya back to the UK.

The pair are both mechanical engineers and Sam, from Parton, has come to the end of a two year posting in Kenya.

During his time there he bought the vehicle and completely restored it and did not want to leave it behind.

Calum, from Milton, agreed to take time off from work to join him on the epic trip.

Having travelled through Ethiopia, the pair are currently in Sudan on their way to Egypt.
