Former Brighton striker praises Evan Ferguson and says best is yet to come

Evan Ferguson will only get better at Brighton, according to the Seagulls’ former striker Leo Ulloa.

The Argentine has been impressed with the performances of the 18-year-old Irishman so far.

But he reckons Brighton fans won’t see the best of the former Bohemians striker for another few years, as he continues to develop in the first-team.

Ferguson has scored five goals in all competitions, including the winner against Stoke in the FA Cup last week.

Ulloa scored 26 goals in 58 appearances for Brighton between 2012 and 2014, before moving to Leicester where he won the Premier League in 2016.

He said: “I think he (Ferguson) is very good because he is young, it’s difficult to be 18 and to play in the Premier League and score. You have to learn and learn.

“But he is playing in the Premier League and he will improve a lot.

“He’s playing every week, training with the first team every day. He will improve every time and in two or three years he could be very good.

“It’s important to give him time and patience and not put pressure on him.

“You have to let him learn and give him space and that is the best way to make sure he can become the best version of himself.”
