Plans have been submitted to demolish a former tax office in Bootle.
The application, to knock down Comben House on Farriers way in Netherton was submitted to Sefton Council last week.
According to the application, the demolition of the interlocking office buildings comprising Comben House, which was closed by HMRC after a major departmental shake-up, would be carried out in phases over a three-month period.

The phases would include the removal of a “small amount of asbestos” identified on the site by licensed contractors before the rest of the deconstruction works are carried out.
A letter submitted as part of the application details how the demolition is to make way for the construction of a warehouse at the 2.3hectare site, which will be the subject of a separate planning application, which is yet to have been submitted.
The letter adds: “A full planning application is being prepared for submission in early 2023 but in advance of that my client is seeking is seeking prior approval to demolish the existing buildings so that early site preparation can be commenced.”
The application has been submitted by Empire Partners Ltd. The building was previously owned by HMRC and according to the Land Registry was last sold for £1m in 2018 to Guernsey-based Jolivet Investments Ltd.
It is currently listed for sale online with Gerald Eve, LM6 and B8RE. Marketing literature refers to potential uses, via existing planning consent for a “terrace of new build units, refurbishment and new entrance” – or the construction of a 188-sq ft warehouse on the site following demolition of the existing buildings.
