Former Bolton Wanderers defender Yoan Zouma suspended by club amid RSPCA investigation

Kurt Zouma's brother has been suspended by his football team amid an ongoing RSPCA investigation.

Earlier this week, a video emerged of Kurt Zouma dropping, kicking and slapping his pet cat at his home in London.

The RSPCA have since seized two cats and is investigating the incident.

Yoan Zouma, Kurt's younger brother, has admitted to filming the upsetting video and has publicly apologised.

His club, Dagenham and Redbridge have now put out a statement confirming that the former Bolton Wanderers defender will not play for the club until the RSPCA investigation is concluded.

A club spokesman said: "Yoan was this week contacted by the RSPCA to assist in their investigation and is fully cooperating with them.

"However, Dagenham & Redbridge FC would again like to reiterate that it condemns any form of cruelty towards animals and fully understands the reaction of many of its supporters.

"The Club has therefore decided that until the RSPCA has completed its investigations, Yoan will not play for Dagenham & Redbridge in any competitive match.

"Any further action deemed necessary to be taken will be made at the conclusion of the RSPCA investigation."

Yoan Zouma played 23 times for Wanderers between 2018 and 2020.

Kurt Zouma's club West Ham United confirmed that he has been fined "the maximum amount possible" for the incident, but still allowed him to play against Leeds United on Tuesday night.
