Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jon Kitna, who is now a high school coach at Lakota East High School, compared Joe Burrow to a former teammate of his own when he was in Seattle in 1997.
Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com talked to Kitna and he said that Burrow reminds him of Warren Moon, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
Here’s some of what Kitna said about Burrow:
“I think it’s really hard in this league to consistently throw go routes. In Seattle, it was like we were unstoppable. It didn’t matter if he was throwing to (Joey) Galloway or (Mike) Pritchard or James McKnight.
“That’s what this kind of reminds of. It can be any of them at any time. Down the field, back shoulder … the accuracy is off the charts.”
Kitna also said that Burrow’s football IQ is off the charts and it’s impressive how quickly he gets through all of his reads or to his check down.
It’s a very encouraging comparison to hear from Kitna after the start Burrow has had to his career.
