Former Bengals QB AJ McCarron is great example of why XFL will succeed

Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback AJ McCarron keeps making big splashes because he’s now authored two impressive late comeback victories for his 2-0 St. Louis Battlehawks to start the new XFL season.

But he also brought up a great point after the latest win that hints at why the XFL might just last this time out.

Speaking in a postgame interview, McCarron touched on how being a backup in the NFL was great, but he really just wants to get on the field and play.

“It’s just fun to come out here and play,” McCarron said on the broadcast. “I’ve missed playing. Not always just being a backup. And that’s a great living, it really is and I absolutely love it. But I love playing. This is special and I can’t thank the XFL enough.”

If more backup NFL players take this mentality and go over to the XFL, it’s going to boost the quality of the play on the field and help the league stick.

It remains to be seen whether that happens, but McCarron’s point is a good one and he’s not the only former Bengals player proving it. Former linebacker Jordan Evans continues to excel in his new starting role with the Seattle Sea Dragons, too.
