Former Bengal Fred Willis dead at 75

Former Cincinnati Bengals running back Fred Willis died Tuesday at the age of 75.

Here’s a piece of his obituary:

We celebrate the indelible mark Fred has left on the world of football. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of athletes to push the boundaries of their abilities and strive for greatness. Fred’s memory will live on in the annals of football history, forever etched in the hearts of fans who witnessed his extraordinary talent.

Willis was a Bengal for nineteen games over two seasons after being drafted by Cincinnati in the 1971 NFL Draft. He rushed for 590 yards and seven touchdowns in his rookie season.

After he retired, Willis was a big advocate for former players suffering from CTE or other traumatic brain injuries.
