Robert Quinn, who set the Bears’ single-season sacks record just a year-and-a-half ago, was arrested in South Carolina on Friday on suspicion of third-degree assault and battery and hit-and-run, among seven charges.

Quinn turned himself in Friday morning and was released on bond. He is accused of hitting a subdivision gate, a lamp post and four cars with his truck — and slapping a woman in the face twice.

According to Summerville, S.C., police reports, officers responded to a call about several hit-and-run incidents and a physical assault around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. At least 20 neighbors were waiting for officers when they arrived, near multiple parked, struck vehicles.

One neighbor said she was sitting in her driveway when she saw a red Ford F150 hit two cars on her property. The driver got out and offered to buy her a beer, she said, then grabbed her by the shoulders and said to “listen to me” before striking her across the face with an open hand twice.

The suspect eventually ran away.

The F150 was registered to Quinn, and he was identified using video provided by witnesses. According to the police report, his family members arrived on the scene, said he’d been driving the vehicle and that they were unable to find him.

Before the damaged F150 was towed, officers found a partially empty bottle of Crown Royal Regal Apple, a flavored whiskey, on the passenger-side floorboards.

Officers considered using a K9 unit to find Quinn, but decided against it. They pinged his cell phone, which showed he was near a Wal-Mart, but they couldn’t find him.

Quinn set the Bears’ single-season sacks record with 18 12 in 2021. They traded him to the Eagles in the middle of last season and he reached the Super Bowl as a member of the NFC champions. For the first time in his career, Quinn is not with an NFL team during training camp.

Quinn, 33, was a first-round pick of the Rams in 2011. He went to high school in North Charleston, S.C., about 10 miles from his home in Summerville.
