Matt Baker has been flooded with support after sharing his heartbreak after his beloved dog died. The former The One Show host took to Instagram on Thursday (April 13) to share that his 'sweet natured' pooch Isla had devastatingly passed away.
The sad announcement was made via his Farm On The Hill Instagram page, which is based on the Channel 4 series documenting his family's farming life. The page shared an array of snaps of the beloved pet pooch alongside an emotional tribute including how much he would miss her in an accompanying caption.
Announcing Isla's death, they wrote: "So sad, we've said Goodbye to Isla, our oldest & smallest cairn at 13yrs. She was sweet natured, kind, tough, fast as lightning, and a patient gentle Mum. She was the one with the voice to let us know when they all wanted to be in or be out.."

The post ended: "We’ll miss her." Then commenting on the post, Matt poignantly added in the comments: "The reason we love dogs so much is the only time they break our hearts is when they leave us."
His friends and fans were then quick to take to the comments section to share their support for Matt and his family. Steps star Ian 'H' Watkins wrote: "Big hugs," alongside a string of broken heart emojis. @gwynethb said: "Rest easy beautiful Isla. Thinking of you all at this difficult time."
@flora_cairn_geordiegirl commented: "So very sorry to hear that. I’m certain she couldn’t have had any better life than with you." @gail_59 replied: "Such sad news. What a beautiful life she's had with all that countryside to run around in. I had a Cairn terrier when I was younger, Kelly, was her name. She was so sweet. As somebody else commented, Paul O'Grady will watch over her."
@cookeesarah shared: "So sorry to hear that. I am sure Isla has the very best life with you all. Sending love to you all and to Isla's doggy friends/family." @janewoofyjumpers added: "So sorry to hear your news. Cairn terriers are small dogs with big personalities, a loss leaves a gap in your heart & home. Hugs."
Matt, who documented his family life in the series Matt Baker: Our Farm in the Dales, regularly shares the behind-the-scenes of his life and the animals on social media. The series began in 2021 and followed Matt as he returned to his childhood county of Durham to help his parents run the family farm.
The three-season series followed Matt in running the farm's day-to-day operations following his mother’s serious injury. But Matt shared on his main account earlier this week that he would be fronting a new spin-off show. Feeding some lambs in a clip posted to social media, he revealed that he would appear in Travels in the Country USA on Wednesday evenings.
He posted: “TONIGHTS the first episode of 'Travels in The Country USA' - if you fancy a trip to rural America to meet some wonderful people doing incredible things join me on More4 at 9 o’clock. Thank you to More4 and my wonderful team who’ve helped me to make this fantastic series, the heart of those on and off screen shines through x.
"If like me you are fascinated by the countryside of our beautiful world and it’s people, then this is the series for you #farmlife #countryside #usa #roadtrip @channel4 #television."
