Former BBC news presenter Huw Edwards has been given a suspended six-month prison sentence by a London court for possessing indecent images of children. The sentence is suspended for two years, with conditions that include completing a sex offender treatment program and attending 25 rehabilitation sessions.

Edwards, who was the highest-paid journalist at the BBC, admitted in July to having 41 indecent images of children. The court was informed that Edwards had exchanged online messages with an adult man on WhatsApp, who sent him a total of 377 sexual images, 41 of which were indecent images of children.

The individual who sent Edwards the images is a convicted pedophile, as revealed during the court proceedings. It was disclosed that Edwards had sent the man hundreds of pounds, seemingly in response to receiving pornographic images. However, the defense argued that Edwards did not make payments to receive indecent images and did not intend for such images to be sent to him.
