Former Ayr town centre Chinese restaurant could be yours for £225,000

A former Chinese restaurant in Ayr town centre could become a vibrant new eaterie for the right price.

The old Lychees China fusion restaurant on Miller Road is on the market for sale or lease.

The sizeable licensed premises – which measures some 4,481 sq. ft – occupies the ground floor of a two-storey period property with a terrace area to the front and substantial extensions to the rear.

The accommodation comprises of; a restaurant area, kitchen, staff office, various storerooms and W.C. facilities.

And located on a prominent spot at the edge of Ayr town centre – close to established businesses including LA Bowl, Hotel Kylestrome Bar & Grill and The Growler Bar & Restaurant – it is hoped to be snapped up quickly.

Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, who are marketing the premises, are inviting potential buyers and occupiers with sale offers over £225,000 or rental offers over £30,000 per annum.

And they say the property could be utilised for ‘alternative use’, subject to obtaining the correct planning permissions.

Shepherd partner Kevin Bell said: “Suitable for alternative use subject to planning, we anticipate much interest in this opportunity to secure attractive restaurant premises within Ayr town centre from potential buyers and occupiers.”

Ayrshire Live previously told how Lychees – hailed as Ayrshire’s ‘best’ Chinese – is reopening at a new venue across town on South Harbour Street, with a date set to be confirmed.

The announcement was welcome news for the town after the family-owned business, which served up their delicious Asian Fusion dishes on Miller Road for 11 years, sadly announced they were closing in May.

A post on its Facebook page said: “We can officially announce that we will be moving venue down to South Harbour Street.
