Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has claimed that Chelsea loanee Armando Broja would be a good signing for his old club.
football.london understands that the Gunners are now monitoring Broja's situation ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Albanian youngster impressing Mikel Arteta during his loan spell with Southampton.
The 20-year-old has netted eight times across all competitions, providing a further two assists - an impressive record when you consider he has started just 15 times for Ralph Hasenhuttl's men this term.
Arteta is desperate to add to his frontline after allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona last month whilst Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are both into the final five months of their respective contracts at the Emirates Stadium.
Now, Campbell has admitted he is unsure whether or not the Blues would sell the talented forward to a direct rival but did claim that Broja fits his former club's current transfer strategy.
"They might well say they don’t want to sell him to a rival. But if the young man wants a career, then he won't want to be going out on loan all the time or stuck in the reserves - he’ll want to move," he told Football Insider.
"I don’t know how strong the interest is, but he’s certainly performing brilliantly at Southampton.
"He looks a right handful and he’s a young striker, which ties into the model at Arsenal right now.
“I don't know what their stance is on selling to a top-four rival, but Chelsea won’t be able to keep everybody happy this summer – that’s for sure.”
