Former Arsenal star Calum Chambers aims jibe at Tottenham after helping stun old rivals

Calum Chambers aimed a cheeky jibe at old north London rivals Tottenham after helping Aston Villa claim a 2-0 win on New Year’s Day.

Goals from Emi Buendia and Douglas Luiz condemned Spurs to falling out of the top four.

Appearing as a late substitute in an atypical midfield role, there was still time for the ex-Arsenal star to get booked before firing a social media barb at Tottenham post-game.

“North London is…. Claret,” Chambers tweeted. “Happy new year!!”

Villa boss Unai Emery toasted to his side’s away day triumph which continued their strong start under the new manager.

“We are so happy because we deserved to win,” he said. “We played with the tactical discipline that we were speaking about in the days before the match.

“We did really good work and scored two goals. We got a clean sheet as well and Robin Olsen was fantastic.

“With our supporters [behind us], we can have days like today. It’s perfect.”
