Former Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, who had faced pressure from Donald Trump regarding the 2020 election, announced on Tuesday that he is endorsing the former president for reelection and GOP Senate nominee Kari Lake. Ducey emphasized the importance of the upcoming election, stating that despite differences, there is too much at stake.
In a post on X, Ducey urged eligible Arizonans to vote and prioritize issues that impact the state and the nation. He expressed his support for Republicans across the ballot in the November elections, endorsing both Donald Trump and Kari Lake.
Following the 2020 election, Trump had contacted Ducey to discuss the election results and had pressured him to investigate fraud in the Arizona presidential election. Trump publicly criticized Ducey for certifying the 2020 election results, which showed Joe Biden winning Arizona by a margin of less than 11,000 votes.
Kari Lake, a former local news anchor, ran for the governor's seat in 2022 but was unsuccessful. She recently won the Senate primary and will be facing Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego in a crucial race for control of the Senate.
Ducey highlighted key issues such as securing the border, addressing inflation, making the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent, and ensuring that America is respected globally while avoiding conflicts like World War III. He emphasized the need for a Republican presence in the White House and a majority in the House and Senate to address these critical issues.
