Former child star Benji Gregory, best known for his role as Brian Tanner on the popular sitcom 'Alf,' was tragically found dead in a Chase Bank parking lot in Arizona last month at the age of 46. His sister, Rebecca, confirmed his passing, although the cause of death is still pending.
Reports suggest that Gregory had been battling depression, bipolar disorder, and a sleep disorder that often kept him awake for days. It is believed that he was at the bank to deposit residual acting checks from his time on 'Alf' when he fell asleep in his car and succumbed to a heatstroke due to the extreme summer temperatures in the area.
Gregory was accompanied by his service dog, Hans, who also tragically passed away in the car. His family expressed their grief over the loss and encouraged fans to make donations in his name to causes he supported, such as The Actors Equity Foundation or the ASPCA.
During his time on 'Alf,' Gregory appeared in 101 episodes from 1986 to 1990, becoming a household name. He also had guest roles on shows like 'The A-Team' and 'The Twilight Zone,' as well as appearances in projects like 'Fenster Hall' and 'Mr. Boogedy.'
In 2003, Gregory made a significant career change by enlisting in the U.S. Navy and serving as an aerographer's mate until his honorable discharge in 2005. His former co-stars Michu Meszaros and Max Wright, who played Alf and the father on the series, respectively, have also passed away in recent years.
