Former Airdrie care home with 11-bedrooms on market for offers over £250k

A former care home which boasts an impressive 11-bedrooms is going under the hammer with a guide price of £250,000 and over.

Abbeyfield House, on Colston Road, in Airdrie, has been empty for the last few years but is now up for grabs as Auction House Scotland will give it away to the highest bidder.

The property was purpose built in 1986 and used as supported living accommodation with communal living areas and kitchen facilities.

The detached former care home has eleven bedrooms, ten of which have en-suite shower rooms, plus a separate two-bedroom house keeper’s quarters.

The ground floor accommodation includes an entrance hall, reception area open to communal lounge, conservatory, kitchen, utility, two bathrooms, and eight bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms.

Two enclosed stairs provide access to the upper floor, which provides three more bedrooms (two with en-suite shower rooms, one with toilet only), and the housekeeper’s quarters which includes a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms.

There is a large monoblock area to the rear of the property for parking.

Mandi Cooper, Managing Director for Auction House Scotland, commented: “Abbeyfield House is in a great location within the residential area of Drumgelloch, just one mile east of Airdrie town centre, with a nearby railway station connecting the area to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

“The property could offer a potential buyer multiple potential end uses, whether reinstated as a care facility or developed into something different, such as new housing, subject to the relevant planning permissions.”

The former care home will be sold at an in-room auction at 2pm on March 23 at the Radisson RED hotel, 25 Tunnel Street, Glasgow.

The auction will also be live streamed allowing interested bidders the option to watch and bid online, whilst telephone and proxy bidding is also available if potential buyers are unable to attend the auction to bid in person. All bidders are required to register to bid before participating.

For further information about the property or the auction, please call Auction House Scotland on 0141 339 4466 or visit their website.
