Italian champions Napoli are said to be lining up a £15 million move for Scotland international Lewis Ferguson.
The 23-year-old, who hails from Hamilton, is currently playing in Italy with Serie A rivals Bologna.
But it is being reported that Napoli - who beat his dad Derek's old side, Rangers, in the Champions League group stages last season on their way to the quarter-finals - have been impressed by Ferguson's exploits this season, and want him to shore up the midfield after the departure of Tanguy Ndombele and Diego Demme looking set to follow.
If Ferguson does move on, his former side Aberdeen would be set to cash in due to a sell-on clause in the contract he signed with Bologna just last year, in his £3m move from the Scottish Premiership.
The ex-Hamilton Accies man has been linked a move to other Serie A clubs this season, including AC Milan and Juventus, but Napoli are willing to splash the cash to lure him away to Italy's south coast.
Ferguson, who netted seven goals this season to become the highest-scoring Scot in Serie A since Denis Law excelled for Torino in 1962, made 23 appearances for Bologna this term as they finished ninth in the table.
Bologna have previously stated their desire to hold on to their key man, with sports director Giovanni Sartori sying earlier this month: "I'm not afraid of receiving phone calls for Lewis Ferguson this summer because he is part of the Bologna 2023/2024 technical project.
"That is confirmed."
