Bolton Wanderers are poised to be without Ricardo Santos, Dapo Afolayan and Kyle Dempsey for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday and could prompt a reshuffled side Ian Evatt puts out.
Defender Santos, attacker Afolayan and midfielder Dempsey all came off in the midweek draw at the University of Bolton Stadium against Portsmouth for Wanderers.
Santos did not re-emerge after the break and was replaced by Will Aimson, while Afolayan and Dempsey both came off in the second half, with all three players suffering the same hamstring problem.
The trio are all out of tomorrow afternoon's encounter against the Owls and brings back unwelcome memories of earlier in the season when Wanderers experienced an glut of injuries which limited options between November and December.
Evatt freely admitted this is the worst season he has experienced as a manager for having injuries, but there is a need to understand why Wanderers have suffered so many and suggested training loads may be looked at as a result.
He said: "Absolutely the worst, there is no doubt about that. I think it is going to end up costing us dearly to be honest, especially that spell in November and December.
"But you have seasons like this, there is no point feeling sorry for ourselves. What we need to do is understand why and look at training loads, look at physical data, what we are doing the gym and our training intensity level, and try to tweak things to prevent them as best we can.
"You are never going to prevent every injury but you can certainly do as many things as you possibly can to limit the risk.
"Again, there is lots of work going on behind the scenes to look at that and see how we can limit that risk of injuries moving forward."
Assuming that the trio are not involved against Wednesday tomorrow, there is the potential for a formation change in light of Santos in particular being unavailable.
Evatt also hinted that some players are carrying knocks and there is some illness in camp too but did not reveal who, so this predicted team is based upon those we know are ruled out.
James Trafford could line up as goalkeeper, while there could be a back four in place owing to the loss of Santos.
Injury and illness permitting, Gethin Jones, Aimson, George Johnston, and Declan John could be the defence which lines up against Wednesday.
In central midfield, MJ Williams could come back into the side alongside Aaron Morley, with Elias Kachunga on the right and Kieran Sadlier on the left.
And upfront, Dion Charles could be partnered by Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, though Amadou Bakayoko is also an option.
Bolton Wanderers predicted XI vs Sheffield Wednesday: Trafford; Jones, Aimson, Johnston, John; Kachunga, Williams, Morley, Sadlier; Charles, Bodvarsson.
