Forest Green Rovers football club has extended its partnership deal with a London and Los Angeles-based digital marketing agency for the 2022-2023 season. As the club’s official training kit sponsor, Go Up will receive a commercial rights package, including hospitality and advertising as part of the deal.
The announcement comes as the 133-year-old side prepares to compete in League One for the first time in its history. Forest Green Rovers secured its promotion following a nil-all draw with Bristol Rovers - just five years after the team entered the English Football League.
The carbon neutral football side first agreed a ‘green partnership ’ with Go Up last year, with the agency becoming the club's official training ground partner.
Forest Green Rovers, which is based in Nailsworth, is widely recognised as the world’s greenest football club thanks to the numerous changes made by chairman Dale Vince. These include introducing the first organic football pitch at its New Lawn Stadium, creating shirts made from recycled plastic and ground coffee, and a commitment to veganism within the club.
Go Up said its partnership with the side had been "the catalyst" for its two manifestos - a green manifesto and a happiness manifesto - that feature sustainability and wellbeing initiatives. The company said it was also aiming to have a client base "that is 100% green" and "socially impactful" in the future, following its partnership with Forest Green Rovers.
Go Up’s managing director Tom Skinner said: “Our partnership with Forest Green Rovers is fundamental in inspiring us to become a greener agency. It means we get to support and draw direct inspiration from a sports and community enterprise that is incredibly visionary and brave."
Henry Staelens, chief executive of Forest Green Rovers, added: “This partnership has all the credentials we look for at Forest Green Rovers – Go Up are on a sustainability journey as a business, are fun to work with, and bring lots of energy.”
