Forensics comb scene of 'fatal stabbing' as cops lockdown Scots streets

Forensics have been combing the scene of a major incident in Cumbernauld this evening.

Police have locked down the area surrounding Abronhill Shopping Centre on Larch Road, amid reports of a fatal stabbing.

Forensics officers in white suits were seen collecting evidence this evening after police cordoned the area off just before 5pm.

There are currently a number of police cars there and officers standing guard.

The area - which is largely residential - has been taped off and police are checking any vehicles attempting to enter or leave the area.

An ambulance can be seen sitting stationary on the other side of the cordon where most of the forensic activity is taking place.

“Officers are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.”

Police have been contacted for further comment.
