Pictures taken at the scene showed a terraced house taped off this morning. Forensic officers were spotted outside the property with a CSI van stationed on the street.
Local residents said they were shocked to see the police on the 'quiet' street. Janet Jones, who has lived nearby for eight years, said: "I heard sirens, but I had no idea it was for round here.
"I think it’s a very quiet area. I have no problems with my neighbours.
"Everyone is helpful with each other. I don’t sleep very well and I was watching television, and I heard the sirens but I did not think anything of it.
"My neighbour has messaged me to see if I had heard anything. At least there was no death, that’s the main thing."
Another man said: "All I saw was the tape up and CSI was there. That was at 11 o’clock." Another resident said: "I usually rise at 10:30 or 11 o’clock.
"It’s alright really round here, I’ve been here for nine years, and it’s the first time the police I’ve been out."
