Foreign Office updates entry rules for Brits travelling to Spain

The Foreign Office has updated Spain's entry requirements amid a change to their travel rules.

Previously, every person entering the country, even with a certificate, had to fill out the form in order to receive a QR code to present at the airport upon arrival. But now the rules have changed and travellers with an EU Digital covid Certificate or equivalent from a non-EU country will only have to show their certificate when they arrive, without having to complete the health form as well.

Spain has a Travel Health Control form which you must complete no more than 48 hours before travelling to Spain unless you have a digital covid-19 certificate.

All people who enter Spain from other countries, do not have an EU Digital covid Certificate or EU Equivalent. Children under the age of 12 and passengers in international transit do not have to show a certificate or SpTH QR.

Each form is personal and non-transferable and is associated with a single trip.

In case the passenger is a minor, or a dependant/disabled person, the form can be completed by their guardian, who will be responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.

The form is based on international initiatives of public health and aviation organisations to protect the health of passengers and residents. This model has been adopted by the Government of Spain as part of the mandatory health control measures for passengers from other countries, in the context of the health emergency caused by covid-19.

Its objective is to assess the health status of travellers on arrival in Spain and to ensure their identification and traceability, if necessary if they are considered to have had close contact with a confirmed case of covid-19, or another communicable infectious disease that could put the health of all at risk.

This form consists of five sections that contain questions about personal information, the traveller's contact information, details of the trip and a health declaration to pass the health control on arrival in Spain.
