The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (The FCDO) has updated its travel advice for Spain and Portugal as Storm Oscar moves on from the holiday hotspots. It has removed its guidance on weather warnings in the Canary Islands, Madeira, Porto Santo and the Azores due to Storm Oscar.
Earlier this week the storm brought strong winds and heavy rain to the popular tourist destinations. Weather warnings were issued by the Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), while the Met Office also warned of large waves and possible flooding.
Storm Oscar has now moved on from the islands. AEMET has removed its weather warnings for the Canary Islands while IPMA has removed warnings for Madeira, although a few yellow warnings fo wind are in place for the Azores and some areas of mainland Portugal until tomorrow.

According to the Met Office, Tenerife will enjoy dry and sunny weather in the coming days, with highs of up to 26C forecast over the weekend. The weather is also set to remain warm and dry in Madeira, although it will be cloudy, with highs of 25C expected.
Meanwhile the Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for thunderstorms this weekend in the UK, covering large areas of England, Wales and western Scotland. The UK is set to experience soaring temperatures, leading to “hot and humid” conditions and the “risk of some heavy and thundery showers developing”.
