Many people will be jetting aboard after two years of lockdown and covid restrictions.
And whilst many people may be focused on which covid rules, if any, they need to stick to - such as being vaccinated or wearing a mask - there are still rules when it comes to passports and it has been causing issued for thousands.
Earlier this year, the Home Office warned renewals could be delayed by up to 10 weeks due to a backlog caused by the Covid pandemic and now some holidaymakers are said to be missing out due to not getting their documents back in time.

There is a list of 34 destinations which have all been updated and popular holiday destination Portugal is one of them.
In an update by the Foreign Office, their new advice reads: "If you are planning to travel to an EU country (except Ireland), or Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or Vatican City, you must follow the Schengen area passport requirements.
Your passport must be:
- Issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’)
- Valid for at least three months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
"You must check your passport meets these requirements before you travel. If your passport was issued before 1 October 2018, extra months may have been added to its expiry date.
"Contact the embassy of the country you are visiting if you think that your passport does not meet both these requirements. Renew your passport if you need to."
