Hundreds of foreign nationals have been repatriated from Lebanon in the past 24 hours, as countries around the world work to evacuate their citizens amid the ongoing crisis in the region.
In the Netherlands, a group of 185 individuals from various countries including the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, and Finland arrived in Eindhoven on Friday night. The repatriation efforts were overseen by the Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp.
Another evacuation flight landed in Cyprus, carrying 38 Cypriots, 11 Greek nationals, two Poles, and 19 Lebanese individuals with permanent residency in Cyprus. The Cypriot foreign ministry confirmed the safe arrival of these individuals.
Poland also conducted evacuation operations, with several dozen Polish nationals arriving in Warsaw on Friday night. Germany evacuated 219 'particularly vulnerable Germans' from Lebanon, as reported by the German foreign office.
Nigerian nationals in the south of Lebanon were brought to Beirut and other safer areas, according to Nigeria's foreign ministry. The Nigerian government has initiated preparations for the evacuation of Nigerians in Lebanon back to Nigeria. Kenya's government is also in the process of evacuating its citizens from Lebanon.
A charter flight supported by the Australian government departed from Beirut with 229 passengers on board. Additionally, five Malaysians were successfully evacuated from Lebanon and landed in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, as confirmed by the Malaysian foreign ministry.
