Ford Will Cut You a Check If Your F-Series Truck is Stolen

Ford says it's willing to cut F-Series owners a check if someone steals their truck. It's part of the automaker's new Security Package rolling out to select F-Series models right now, which includes several other features designed to prevent thieves from stealing America's best-selling pickup. Of course, there are some caveats.

Ford will offer an insurance deductible reimbursement of up to $2,500 if the vehicle hasn't been recovered or if it's been damaged. The offer is available on gas- and hybrid-powered 2024-2025 F-150 and Super Duty pickups in 40 states. Owners get a one-year free trial of Ford's Security Package service before it costs $7.99 a month, and to retain access, owners must have a connectivity plan.

The package also includes a new Start Inhibit feature that allows owners to remotely lock down their vehicle, preventing anyone from starting it, even with a key. This feature is accessible through the FordPass app, where owners can also get a one-time, 12-digit code they can type into their truck's infotainment screen to deactivate the lockdown. It's available on the 2024-2025 F-150 and 2025 Super Duty. Interestingly, the electric F-150 Lightning does not have this feature.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Ford plans to expand the Security Package to other vehicles. Ford also says it could expand the insurance deductible reimbursement offer to more states.

It feels like modern technology has only made it easier for thieves to steal vehicles, so Ford's new package should provide some comfort to owners. In addition to the latest features, Ford will also offer a 24/7 helpline to assist owners in connecting with law enforcement, and owners will receive notifications of any theft or tampering through the app.
