• A business profile referred to the Elephant and Castle complex in London as “Europe’s first large indoor shopping centre when it opened in 1965”. In fact, the Bull Ring centre in Birmingham had opened the year before (12 May, p54).
• The illustrations that accompanied an article (“Stuffed, drawn and auctioned – the Bird Man’s book could sell for £2m”, 5 May, p13) were commissioned by the ornithologist and taxidermist John Gould but he did not produce the finished works as one of the captions suggested. As the article itself made clear, he engaged artists to execute them from his notes and sketches.
