Former Footballers' Wives star Ben Richards found himself mimicking Rylan Clark on This Morning as he declared that the TV and radio star will 'kill him' for his impression. The actor was on the ITV daytime show to chat about being back on the West End stage.
Ben, who has also appeared in Emmerdale and Holby City, has returned to theatre and can currently be found playing The Duke in Moulin Rouge. But as he appeared live in the studio to chat to hosts Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson, the pair couldn't help but ask about Footballers' Wives, in which Ben played the role of Bruno Milligan.
The show's stand-in hosts wanted to reminisce with Ben about his time on the ITV drama about the fictional Premier League football club Earls Park F.C, which ran from 2002 to 2006 and is currently available to watch again in all its glory on ITV's streaming service ITVX, as they played out a classic scene from the series.
"Have you ever met anyone who you've been surprised is a Footballers' Wives fan?" Josie then went on to ask to which Ben shared his story about Rylan. He said of the BBC Radio 2 host: "Well, Rylan... when I first met Rylan he was like, 'Oh my God, it's Bruno!" while trying to copy the star's Essex accent.
Josie and Craig laughed as the latter said: "That's a good Rylan." Josie then encouraged: "You've got to do your impression of Rylan." Laughing, Ben replied: "He'll kill me!" Before attempting to retell the story in a questionable accent. "He was like, 'Oh yeah, I remember you from Footballers' Wives. I loved Bruno, I did."
As Josie creased into laughter on the famous sofa, Ben laughed as he said: "He'll going to kill me when he sees this," before adding: "Sorry mate!" But viewers saw the funny side, including @coxyhockeychick who tweeted: "Ben Richards doing his @Rylan on #ThisMorning about #FootballersWives."
And Ben went on to give Josie, Craig and This Morning viewers some 'juicy gossip'. "They've made a musical of Footballers' Wives," he confirmed. "The album's out now," he went on to reveal. "We've recorded it and it's great. The cast are some of the top, top singers. And I got a phonecall saying, 'Look, can you come in and sing some numbers because we didn't realise you could sing,' and I was like, 'sure!'"
