Footballers' tribute, man faces murder trial and viral takeaway's plans

Everton and Liverpool legends leave floral tributes for Olivia Pratt-Korbel

Ambassadors for Liverpool FC and Everton FC left flowers at the scene of Olivia Pratt-Korbel's shooting.

Former players Ian Rush and Ian Snodin left floral tributes in Kingsheath Avenue, Dovecot on behalf of the Merseyside football clubs. The two club ambassadors, Snodin wearing a suit with a blue tie and Rush wearing an LFC suit with a red tie, arrived at the police cordon at around 9.45am this morning, Friday, August 26.

On the flowers from Everton FC, a message read: "RIP Olivia. No words will lessen the pain or explain such a tragedy. Our city stands united. Forever in our thoughts."

A card on the floral tribute from Liverpool FC said: "Rest in peace Olivia, with deepest sympathy from all of us at Liverpool Football Club. You'll never walk alone."

Man accused of stabbing his mum to death set to face murder trial

A man accused of stabbing his mum to death outside a pub is set to stand trial next year.

Jamie Dempsey was charged with murder after his mother Karen died aged 55 following the incident in the car park of the Brambles in Kirkby town centre on Monday night.

The 32-year-old, of Brechin Road in Northwood, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court this morning, Friday, via video link to HMP Altcourse wearing a grey Under Armour t-shirt and sporting short brown hair and a beard.

Takeaway plans Ryan Reynolds tribute after actor's viral comment

A Wirral curry house is planning to pay tribute to Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds after the actor's viral comment had the phones ringing "off the hook".

The Deadpool star took to social media at the weekend to leave a glowing review of the Light of India restaurant in Ellesmere Port. Ryan had been visiting Wrexham, where the National League football club he co-owns beat Maidstone United 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Posting on his Instagram story, the actor shared a photo of the takeaway's flyer with his 44.8million followers. He accompanied the picture with the simple caption: "Best Indian food in Europe".
