'Football freak' Philippe Clement insists Rangers analysis fuelling Rangers success

Self-confessed football freak Philippe Clement has insisted crucial analysis work is helping push Rangers towards making this season a success story.

The Ibrox boss previously revealed he watched every Rangers match before being appointed manager last month.

And he has continued his obsessive approach to management with significant analysis of opposition and increased video work with players.

"Every game you need to look for the details, look for the advantage, how to press, with who to press, what are the weak links," said Clement on the success of the Rangers press against Sparta Prague.

"On the ball also to find where we can find spaces. We had difficulty with that in the first half in Prague, we did much better second half and today also.

"It's a lot of work from a lot of people, I need to say that. It's work of the analysts, my staff, and everybody together to make a good analysis of our opponent and where our opportunities come from."

On his thoughts on Scottish football so far, he added: "I am a football freak so I watch a lot of football. I knew the league and I watched all the games of Rangers before I came and I am watching a lot of games now.

"It is an important part of my job to know each opponent and the circumstances - I know on Sunday it is totally different on the synthetic pitch so we need to adapt again to that."

And equally as important as the countless hours of analysis and research for Clement has been the reuniting of the fan base and the playing squad at Ibrox.

He explained: "We talked about the basics and getting the synergy back with the fans because it was gone a few weeks ago. It is all about hard work and most important is to do the things together and that's about work on the training ground and work with a lot of videos also to show what we have to do to implement the principles we want to get in the team.

"I am really happy with all the team stepping into the story. Every meeting I see people with a lot of attention and also the senior guys, the leaders in the group are really pushing the story in the dressing room."
