Football Finance expert Kieran Maguire has heaped praise on Leeds United's owners after their Companies House reveal last week. The Whites posted revenue of £171million when they filed their annual results on Wednesday April 6th, ranking them 23rd in Deloitte's Global Money League, posted on Twitter by Swiss Ramble.
The 2020/21 accounts put the Whites just behind six time Europa League winners Sevilla with £177m revenue, but ahead of Italian giants AS Roma £169m and Atalanta £166m. The statistics are made even more impressive when you take into account a 16 year absence from the Premier League.
The Whites made a £26million profit for just the second time in ten years, an incredible feat given much of the season was played in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Leeds posted a £62 million loss from their final season in the Championship, despite winning the title under Marcelo Bielsa.

Speaking to Football Insider, Maguire said: “It is impressive, absolutely. It was their first season in the Premier League and I think they benefited from the fact that they were the biggest fish in the EFL pond for so long.
“Despite their long residency there, the level of interest in the club never really waned a great deal. Now, they have managed to monetise that interest now that they have the added attraction of having Premier League status, which counts for a lot.”
