Football fans hit out at 'bad look for England' following new Lionesses kit release

The new England Women's kit has been released almost two months after the first glimpse of it on the pitch, but now it's available to purchase, fans aren't too happy.

The kits have already had their debuts ahead of the World Cup, with the home shirt worn in the first ever Women's Finalissima on April 6 at Wembley, while the away kit was debuted just five days later in the Alzheimer's match between England and Australia raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer's at Brentford's G-Tech Stadium.

Following the release to the general public today, one of the biggest issues being raised by fans is the affordability and sizing, with the 'little kids' sizing starting at £49.95 for a full kit, to the shirt for older kids starting at £59.95 and adult pricing from £79.95, it appears to be the biggest criticism from fans amid a cost of living crisis.

One said: Absolutely shocking the England Women’s 2023 World Cup kit is £124.95 & £79.95!!!! Would love to get one and support the @Lionesses - but that price is just scandalous!! @EnglandFootball @Nike you’ve just out priced many fans of the women’s game!!"

The sizing is also putting a lot of fans off, with a women's fit shirt only going up to a size XL, while a men's version of the Lionesses shirt goes up to 3XL.

Another said: "£60 for a kid's shirt... wow", while the lack of inclusive sizing is also and issue: "Shame again can’t get printing and larger sizes! How much England shirt sales have lost by this."

One user said a multitude of issues were hampering the positive look England need to be giving: "Really bad look for @England who continue to not support their European champions team. Less squad members. TV license not sorted for WC. Release shirts but only up to an XL. No squad numbers released and ignoring fans who ask about it. Only have 5 players available. Do better."

Another question from fans is, where is the goalkeeper's kit? Mary Earps - the FIFA Best goalkeeper alongside Thibaut Courtois - has been open about wanting to change the narrative around goalkeepers

"So disappointed @England @Lionesses @Nike my daughter’s hero is Mary Earps and all she wanted for her 11th birthday in 3 weeks is the new England GK kit. Excited as World Cup kit released today so logged on to buy only to find it’s just on pitch kit! No GK kit! What’s going on?

"She’s going to be SO upset! Women’s football has hit an all time high, surely my daughter can’t be the only girl wanting to be the next Mary Earps, Ellie Roebuck or Hannah Hampton? Why do goalkeepers always get forgotten?"
