Football fan Ralph Ineson to star in new BBC drama featuring Leeds United

Leeds United fan Ralph Ineson is delighted to bag a dream role which pays tribute to some of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

The Office star Ralph, 52, one of many famous Leeds United fans, is appearing in a new BBC radio drama in a role written especially for him with it featuring nods to the club he supports.

Ralph is playing Ray in Waterloo Station alongside Christine Bottomley. The drama is set to air on BBC Radio 4 on Tuesday, March 29.

Ralph has given a little away about what to expect and he seems delighted with the Leeds United element to the production.

On Twitter, he said: “This was really special, doing a part written for me was a first. Ayling, Kalvin, Dallas and Raph are all namechecked. And I got to do it with @ChrissyBotto! It’s on Radio 4 29th March #lufc #radiodrama.”

As Leeds United fans will know, Ralph was making reference to stars Luke Ayling, Kalvin Phillips, Stuart Dallas and Raphinha. We'll bring you more on Waterloo Station when we have further details.

Down the years, Ralph, known to millions as Finchy in Ricky Gervais' The Office, has done a number of projects with Leeds United and he even featured in a film dedicated to the club.

He played a reporter in The Damned United with the film documenting Brian Clough’s ill-fated 44-day tenure as manager of the Whites.

The film was released in 2009 and starred Michael Sheen as the enigmatic Brian Clough.
