THE RNLI has released footage showing a rescue of a dog who got stuck on a rock after falling three metres into the sea.
The fox red labrador named Callie was rescued from underneath a jetty near the former Cockenzie Power Station in East Lothian.
In an operation launched to rescue the pooch on January 20, RNLI Kinghorn volunteers maneuvered their boat below the jetty before taking her on board.

Callie was described as “incredibly scared and nervous” as she was pulled onto the lifeboat. She was later found to have hurt her paw in the fall.
The RNLI said that the Kinghorn lifeboat had been called out to another dog that had fallen from the sea wall – at Gypsy Brae, Granton – just two hours before the call to help Callie came in.
However, the local fire service was able to help the pooch in that instance.
The RNLI said that lifeboats were launched 169 times to help dogs in difficulty in 2021.
It urged people:
- Keep dogs on a lead if you're close to cliff edges or fast flowing rivers.
- If your dog enters the water or gets stuck in the mud, don't go in after them. If possible, move to a place where they can get to safely and call for them. They will likely get out by themselves.
- If you're worried about your dog, call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard.
