Footage shows delivery driver launching parcel into man's garden and running off

This is the moment a delivery driver threw a man's parcel over his garden fence in South Gloucestershire before making a run for it. The recipient could see the funny side after watching back the footage and receiving a confirmation of delivery photo, showing the parcel framed by bushes in the foreground.

A resident from Iron Acton, who asked only to be named as Steph, said her partner heard his motion alarm go off in his driveway at around 10am on Tuesday morning (November 2) but when he went to check his back door, where deliveries are usually made, no one was there.

She said seconds later there was a loud bang from the side of the home, as the box - contained a bike battery which made a dramatic thud - landed by a door that is no longer in use. The pair were in hysterics watching back footage capturing the man walking halfway up the driveway before lobbing the package at the side door.

Steph said: "It’s all one garden that wraps around the house, but this is the side door that we don’t use. When he [my partner] opened the back door and came out the delivery guy started running away. We thought it was absolutely hilarious. Clearly, this guy was in a hurry, but luckily had enough time to take a photo of his over-armed parcel."

The 30-year-old said they have since reported the incident to DPD, who she said was the delivery company responsible, as the content of the box could have been "something of great meaning to someone". She added: "Luckily it was just a battery but it could have been a gift for someone or something expensive that had to be handled carefully."

An image taken of the parcel showed a label appearing to warn of a flammable battery, which she thought must have been missed due to the driver's approach. The couple posted the video to a local Facebook group which left users stunned.

One person wrote:" Ok I will stop moaning about the fact they never knock at my door or ring the doorbell, this is next level." As another chimed: "I've got a delivery from DPD due in 1 hour, I'll go get my cricket gear on and wait in the garden."

Bristol Live has approached DPD for a comment.
