Police were called to Cardross Court at 8pm on Tuesday night after reports of a violent disturbance. A 22-year-old man was found at the scene and remains in critical condition in hospital.

A man, 27, has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.

Police sealed off the residential street following the horror attack and were seen standing guard outside a block of flats.

Members of the community are now calling on Humza Yousaf to take action after the sickening footage was shared with the Daily Record.

MP for Glasgow North East Anne McLaughlin said: “This is a shocking incident – I live in Dennistoun and I know this attack has understandably unnerved people.

"Our thoughts need to be with this young man and his family at this time and we need to pray that he makes a full recovery.

"Thankfully this is a much rarer occurrence than it once was, violent crime is now considerably lower than a decade ago, but this means nothing when it happens to you and your loved ones.

"I will be speaking to the Police to find out how we can reassure people locally. I’m aware of graphic video footage circulating of the attack. I was disgusted by the footage and I would encourage people not to watch this as it is truly horrific.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.20 pm on Tuesday 30 May 2023, police were called to a disturbance in Cardross Court, Dennistoun, Glasgow.

"A 22-year-old man was found injured and was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.

"A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, 1 June, 2023."
