Footage emerges of Harvey Elliott wondergoal in behind-closed-doors Liverpool friendly

Video footage has emerged of Harvey Elliott’s return to action following an injury lay-off.

Elliott has been sidelined for the past four-and-a-half months after suffering a dislocated ankle in the win over Leeds United at Elland Road in September.

The teenager had been a regular figure in Jurgen Klopp’s team prior to his injury, starting three of the first four Premier League matches.

He suffered the injury in the second half against Leeds, and was taken to a local hospital before receiving an operation days later.

Since then, the 18-year-old has been on the path to recovery and has gradually been building up his fitness.

Photos and videos have been posted in recent weeks showing Elliott gradually returning to training at the AXA Centre in Kirkby.

Elliott returned to match action on Saturday where he featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Wrexham.

In the match, Elliott played for 60 minutes where he scored a goal and provided an assist in a promising return to action.

The ECHO understands there were also opportunities handed to defender Rhys Williams and midfielder Leighton Clarkson against Wrexham.

On Instagram, Elliott posted a video showing himself which showed the forward scoring for Liverpool.

Elliott picked up the ball in midfield and dribbled past three opposition players before striking the ball into the bottom corner.

Liverpool and Klopp will hope to have Elliott in contention for when the first-team are back in action next week.

The Reds welcome Cardiff City to Anfield on Sunday, February 6 in the fourth round of the FA Cup, before taking on Leicester City in the Premier League four days later.
