Foodie makes KFC fakeaway in air fryer - and it looks perfectly crispy

There's nothing like ordering a bucket of KFC on a Saturday night for times when you're in need of a bit of comfort food. However, with many looking to cut back amid the cost of living crisis, a growing number of us are trying out fakeaways instead. Luckily, you don't have to be a professional chef to recreate some of the moreish flavours of your favourite takeouts, especially with the help of your trusty air fryer.

One foodie has shown how you can whip up a KFC fakeaway in your air fryer without enormous amounts of effort, and the resulting meal looks just like something Colonel Sanders himself would be proud of.

In a helpful video, TikTok user Timon Rossolimos - who goes by the username @timonrossolimos - started by leaving his chicken breasts to marinate in the fridge overnight in a mixture made up of 473 ml (two cups) of milk, two eggs, and 2 tbs of vinegar. Timon used apple cider vinegar for his recipe but advised regular vinegar could also do the trick.

He then poured 240g (two cups) of flour into a separate bowl, before tossing a mix of 'KFC spices'. This mix - which doesn't appear to have a secret ingredient - includes 1 tbs dry mustard, 3 tbs paprika, 2 tbs garlic salt, 1 tbs ground ginger, 3 tbs white pepper, and 1 tbs brown sugar.

After giving the contents of the bowl a good stir, Timon popped his chicken breasts in, turning them over to make sure they were fully coated on both sides before popping them in the air fryer and brushing them with oil.

With the temperature set at 160°C, Timon left his chicken to fry for 25 minutes, advising his followers that any longer could lead to them getting too dry. The resulting chicken appeared to be golden, crispy, and delicious, and wouldn't have looked out of place at your local KFC branch.

According to Timon, he has previously tried out the same recipe in his oven. However, he's found the air fryer method works much better.
