Spending time mindlessly peeling potatoes and other veggies isn't the most exciting of tasks to be doing in the kitchen but it's a necessary chore if you want to enjoy a tasty meal at the end of it.
But what if we told you there's a "game-changing" potato peeling hack that could save you heaps of time in the preparation stage of cooking, bringing you closer to tucking into your dinner without as much faff beforehand?
That's the claim made by one foodie on TikTok, who shared her "fun kitchen fact" with her followers and quickly went viral - as many had no clue they'd been using peelers wrong their whole lives.
The chef named Jenni, who posts on TikTok under the username @jenniabs3, said in her clip: "The reason why potato peelers swivel back and forth is so that you can not only go down but forward when you're peeling so that you can peel the entire thing super fast without having to actually lift up the peeler off of the vegetable."
She asked her followers whether they peeled the old school way, or whether they already went back and forth, asking in the caption: "Did you know?"
In the comments, people's minds were blown, and people were desperate for cooking to be taught in schools.
One wrote: "This is why we need cooking classes back in high school! How am I just finding this out at 26?"
"Seriously questioning everything I do in life right now", another added.
"At this point am I even cooking right? Lol. Thanks for another great tip!", someone else commented.
"I feel like they should start including instructions with this stuff...I'm not going to read them but the option to read should be there just in case", a TikToker joked.
Someone else said that they thought it was for left and right-handed people to be able to peel with the same tool.
