Food producer Pilgrim’s UK has said it is looking to recruit 50 new staff over the next six months as it looks to boost output at its newly expanded factory in Cornwall.
The pork products purveyor has made a £1.8m investment into its Bodmin site, including on new high-speed packing lines and a storage racking system have been installed to maximise the site’s operational capacity.
The business, which is headquartered in Warwickshire and part of the global Pilgrim’s Pride corporation, said its Cornish facility was a leading supplier of cooked bacon to fast food restaurants. Following the expansion it is now able to process more than 400 tonnes of gammon per week
As part of its target to reach net zero carbon emissions in its own operations by 2030, the business has also invested in greenhouse gas reduction projects to reduce electricity and gas usage on-site.
Daniel Inch, site director at Pilgrim’s UK, said: “Investing in state-of-the-art equipment and renewable tech like this, alongside nurturing our 270-strong team of dedicated people, while encouraging new talent into the industry, are key to ensuring a bright future for our Bodmin site.”

This new investment has unlocked further potential and is attracting new customers keen to improve the quality of their cooked bacon range.”
Pilgrim’s employs 5,500 staff across its 14 UK sites, including three abattoir and deboning sites and eight processing sites.
