The cost of living crisis continues to worsen with six main supermarkets now charging customers over £10 for eight common items.
The items included on the list are a two-pint bottle of milk, a loaf of bread, coffee, teabags, butter, beans, chicken breast and mince.
Prices continue to rise week by week leaving families struggling under what is already a stressful time.
Most recently Lidl ’s chicken prices have increased meaning that no UK supermarket sells eight basic products for less than £10.
As it stands, Lidl remains the cheapest with the eight products totally £10.01, followed closely by Asda at £10.02 and then Aldi at £10.14.
Tesco ’s total came in at £10.32, Sainsbury’s at £10.44 and then Morrisons at £10.81, Manchester Evening News reports.
Morrisons high mince meat prices are what put’s it at the most expensive with 500g costing £2.19 compared to Asda which charges just £1.69.
Generally the survey has used the same quantity and quality products across supermarkets, apart from baked beans where size varies from 400g to 420g.
The rise of food prices comes alongside rising energy costs, council tax bills and rising inflation. Back in March not one supermarket had reached £10 for the eight listed products.
