Folarin Balogun continued his tour of the United States of America with a trip to see the New York Yankees.
Balogun is out in the US on a break having withdrawn from the England Under-21 side through injury. The Reims sensation has set Ligue 1 alight with 18 goals on loan at Will Still's side from Arsenal, heightening talk about his international future.
Having struggled on loan at Middlesbrough last season, Balogun has made a name for himself across the English Channel. He is eligible for England, Nigeria or the US and has represented England and America at youth level and the New York native uploaded a photo to his Instagram page earlier this week from Orlando and went to watch the Orlando Magic basketball team in action.
His most recent upload showed him posing alongside someone wearing a USMNT strip with the pair holding a Yankees shirt personalised with 'Balogun 9' on the back. The Yankees are in spring training ahead of the start of the MLB season in Clearwater, not far from Tampa and more USMNT fans flocked to Balogun's social media profile once again to demand him make a switch official.
Balogun's superb form this season saw him called up to the England Under-21 squad for friendlies against France and Croatia this month but he withdrew through injury. Yet to make a senior appearance for a national team, Balogun is not tied to any particular country and has the pick of England, the US or Nigeria.
Chelsea star Christian Pulisic, on duty with the USMNT during the international break, was asked about Balogun's situation and outlined his desire to see the player represent the stars and stripes. "I haven't really spoken to him personally," he said.
"I know some of the guys that know him from previous teams or whatever have reached out to him and spoken to him. "From our side, we'd love to have him."
