Transport Minister Perni Venkataramaiah on Wednesday directed the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) officials to focus on improving the bus services as the COVID-19 cases were on the decline.
Addressing a review meeting with the officials of the public transport organisation, the Minister called for effective measures to improve the Occupancy Ratio (OR) in the buses as public had started using public transport again. He said the staff should work with dedication to help the management tide over financial crisis.
Mr. Venkataramaiah said in view of the reorganisation of the districts, the APSRTC authorities would also decide on the bus allocation and staff distribution accordingly and the arrangement would be made in a manner wherein the transportation needs of people in remote villages were taken into consideration.
Principal Secretary, Department of Transport, M.T. Krishna Babu, Commissioner Bhaskar, APSRTC Managing Director Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, Executive Directors A. Koteswara Rao, P. Krishna Mohan and Brahmananda Reddy, Financial Adviser Raghav Reddy and others were present.
