The Southside Flyers have sent shockwaves through the WNBL, taking down the competition's two premier teams in a stunning round 9 double.

On Wednesday, the Flyers had comfortably accounted for the top-of-the-table Melbourne Boomers 88-70 in front of a bumper derby crowd of 3006 at Parkville.

Tokyo Olympian Sara Blicavs produced a performance for the ages, amassing 41 points at 88 percent to single-handedly terminate the Boomers' eight-game winning streak.

Implausibly, the Flyers were even more impressive on Friday, walloping new ladder leaders Bendigo Spirit 118-72 at the State Basketball Centre.

The Spirit hung tough in the first term before being smoked 87-45 after quarter-time.

Blicavs, the hero on Wednesday, incredibly, was held scoreless but it didn't matter as seven Southside players registered double digits, led by Kayla Thornton (23 points) and Maddy Rocci (21).

The Flyers buried an astonishing 20-of-30 three-pointers, forced 29 turnovers and leapt into second spot on the ladder.

On Thursday, Adelaide Lightning snapped a five-game losing skid with an emphatic 93-68 upset triumph over Townsville Fire.

Isabel Borlase (23 points) and Jacinta Monroe (21) led the charge for the Lightning, who blew the Fire away with a 28-11 fourth-quarter blitz at Adelaide Arena.

Townsville made amends two days later, defeating the winless Canberra Capitals 77-62 at the National Convention Centre.

On Saturday, Perth centre Lauren Scherf rattled off 22 second-quarter points and 33 overall to help the Lynx overcome a shoddy start to beat the Sydney Flames 75-64 at Bendat Basketball Centre.

Perth missed 15 of their first 17 shots and trailed 19-7 before Scherf spearheaded a match-turning 32-13 second-term onslaught, paving the way for Lynx's third successive victory.
