Travellers can now book flights to New York for as little as £148 each way, as a low-cost airline launches a hard-to-miss transatlantic deal.
It's not unheard of for Liverpool travellers to find flights as low as £20 return on routes across Europe, thanks to airlines including Ryanair, easyJet and Whizz Air. Although longer-haul routes tend to be a lot more expensive, with one-way tickets to the 'Big Apple' costing an average of £400 each.
The low-cost Scandinavian airline, Play, is offering a new deal on a Liverpool to New York route where return flights can be bought for £312. This is £309 cheaper than return flights with Aer Lingus, another popular 'affordable' route for North West travellers.

The route with Play means travellers can take off from John Lennon to New York via a connection in Reykjavik, Iceland. The cheaper flight prices do come with an international layover, which is around a two-hour wait time. This takes the total travelling time to an average of 11 hours from Liverpool.
Choosing the right departure date seems to be key in finding the cheapest flights, as the fare fluctuates between £148 one-way up to £479 one-way depending on the day. Looking at the upcoming departures the cheapest out of Liverpool is on Friday, March 10 at £164.76, next cheapest costs £182.76 on March, 6. There's also a reasonably priced £205.76 flight on Monday, February 27.
The cheapest departure flight on March, 10 (£164.76) lines up with one of the cheapest return flights from JFK on Thursday, March 16 at £148.18. Choosing these dates would bring the total flight cost to £312.94.

In line with the cheapest flight dates, we've had a look at the best hotel deals in the city, giving options for those who want to be in the heart of Times Square or further out to save money.
Booking.com has a wide range of options including in the city's main districts' Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island. Tourists can choose from a range of hotel rooms, holiday homes or apartments depending on their budget and the number of beds needed.
The Riu Plaza Hotel in Times Square is currently 26% off for those who book through Booking.com, which takes the price down to £247 per night from an original £331. Another hotel on offer is Yotel, also in Times Square, which currently has a 12% off prices. Rooms at the Yotel start from £149 a night.
The Hotel Belleclaire in Central Park is still offering an 'early 2023 deal' which takes 13% off night rates, the rooms here start at £281 each night, located in the city's Upper East Side.
Expedia and GetYourGuide have a handful of deals on tourist attractions; like the Statue of Liberty boat tour, Staten Island Ferry, going up the Empire State Building or walking Dumbo's skyline, it can all be done from Expedia.
