Fly-tippers ruin one of Liverpool's most beautiful views

A shocking amount of rubbish has been dumped on one of Liverpool's most picturesque spots.

The piles of fly-tipped waste were discovered in Everton Park - a historic dubbed as a location for some of Liverpool's best views - by a shocked woman who'd visited it over the weekend.

The woman who visited the park yesterday morning (Saturday, January 22) was "gutted" to find a mount of building waste scattered across one of the pathways.

The local woman, who posted the find onto social media, said she has "never seen the park so bad".

Images captured earlier today by the ECHO show the same pile pictured on social media remained in place today.

Most of the rubbish appeared to be broken down planks of wood, along with a range of random objects including foam mats, a broken mop, plastic bottles and plastic packaging.

The woman said the sight left her “gutted” yesterday and it even put her off wanting to return to the park.

She wrote: "Bad enough Everton Park is being ruined by vandals but now there's fly tipping. This mess is all building materials."

She also went on to say she had found addresses attached to items in the pile who may know is was responsible for the mess.

Furious locals condemned the actions of the fly-tippers and many appeared upset by the unsightly mess.

Replying to the woman, one person said: "Destructive and also dangerous in a much needed green space."

While others volunteered to help with the clear-up of the area.

Along with the "mess" caused by fly-tippers, the original poster also reported missing bollards which she believed were removed in order to allow cars to gain access to the pathways, as well as vandalised park benches and evidence of “joyriders” on the grass.

One person said they have ‘never seen the park looking so bad’ while another branded the people responsible as “absolute scumbags”.

Liverpool City Council have been approached for comment.

Those who discover illegal tipping of waste or see it being tipped are being encouraged report it 24 hours a day on the Council’s website.
