Floyd Mayweather told to "lawyer up" amid row over Logan Paul fight purse

Floyd Mayweather has been warned he could face legal trouble as his row continues with YouTube star Logan Paul over his fight purse.

The American star fought Paul in a bumper exhibition last year with his rival lasting the eight-round distance.

Paul has r epeatedly alleged that he is owed money from Mayweather for the clash and is adamant that he hasn't been paid in full.

UFC legend Chael Sonnen believes that Mayweather may be required to "make a deal" with Paul if the incident is investigated further.

"Big problem for [Logan] Paul," Sonnen said on his YouTube channel. "He signed a contract with the money team. That's a big problem.

"Big problem for Floyd [Mayweather] if he received funds, and he did. So this story is going to be ongoing. But if you are team Floyd, you are gonna wanna lawyer up real fast.

"You're gonna want to make a deal and you're gonna want to pay Logan Paul."

The former pound-for-pound king is expected to have bagged around $65 million for the clash with Paul despite no result being officially declared.

Meanwhile Paul is believed to have earned $14 million for his role in the fight which sold over one million pay-per-views last June.

Mayweather has leapt to his own defence and explained why Paul has yet to receive in full.

“This comes with the territory,” Mayweather told the The Pivot Podcast . "To them, that’s real money, and I like the YouTubers. The money on the back end though, from pay-per-view, that takes a while. Nothing comes right away.

"I’m still collecting cheques from fights seven or eight years ago. They just hate when the table is turned. Be happy with the biggest payday you ever got in your life."

Paul has consistently claimed that he is yet to be paid by Mayweather and has refused any chance of a rematch with the retired star.

"It's honestly bull****, [Having] people who aren't a professional promotional company controlling where the money goes... we made that mistake," he told TMZ previously.

"But it's Floyd Mayweather, so before we fought him we were kind of willing to do whatever [and] after the fact we're shooting ourselves in the foot."

He now looks set to take on Brazilian star Whindersson Nunes instead after accepting his challenge on social media despite previously claiming he had hung up his gloves.

This will be the fourth fight of his career in the ring after sharing the ring with fellow YouTuber KSI twice on previous ocassions.

Meanwhile Mayweather was to fight on a helipad in Dubai against Money Kicks in an exhibition but the bout was shelved after talks collapsed.
