Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition bout against former sparring partner Don Moore has been called off after the death of the UAE president.
The pair were due to meet in a ring on Saturday night on the Burj Al Arab Hotel helipad in Dubai, 700ft above sea level. Only 20 tickets were available for the event, each available only as NFTs and costing in the region of £150,000.
However, following the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, a three-day suspension of work has been announced and a 40-day mourning period.
It was due to be Mayweather’s first bout since his fought Logan Paul in another exhibition last June in Miami. This time his opponent was 42-year-old Moore, a long-time sparring partner of Mayweather’s during his professional career.
Also on the bill was UFC legend Anderson Silva, former two-weight world champion Badou Jack, and former women’s lightweight title-holder Delfine Persoon.
There has not yet been official confirmation that the card has been postponed, nor therefore any news on whether it would be rescheduled in the near future.
