Floyd Mayweather Jr to fight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve

Floyd Mayweather Jr will take on Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in a bout on New Year’s Eve, writes Matt Majendie.

The format of the fight in Japan has yet to be decided but the 41-year-old American said he had agreed the deal because he “wanted to do something different”.

The contest follows his August 2017 boxing match against UFC’s Conor McGregor, which Mayweather Jr won. Of the upcoming showdown, he said: “I wanted to display my skills outside the US. I want to give people what they want — blood, sweat and tears.”

Nasukawa, 20, who has a 27-0 record in kickboxing and 4-0 in mixed martial arts, said this was “the biggest moment of my life”.
